Khonsari Law Group is seeking an experienced, highly organized Legal Assistant to join our St. Petersburg office. Our practice includes family law, criminal defense, and civil litigation.
We are looking for someone who already understands how a busy Florida law practice operates and can take ownership of the administrative and procedural aspects of cases. This is not an entry-level position.
The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of keeping cases moving without needing an attorney to direct every administrative task.
Responsibilities
* Manage attorney calendars, court deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and case-related scheduling.
* Coordinate hearings with judicial assistants, opposing counsel, clients, mediators, experts, and court reporters.
* Prepare, format, file, and serve pleadings, motions, notices, correspondence, and other legal documents.
* File documents through the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal and ensure proper electronic service.
* Monitor court filings, orders, correspondence, and deadlines and identify matters requiring attorney attention.
* Maintain organized electronic case files.
* Communicate professionally with clients regarding scheduling, documents, and other non-legal matters.
* Assist with discovery, subpoenas, document production, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation.
* Proactively identify upcoming deadlines, scheduling issues, and tasks requiring attention.
Qualifications
* Prior experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or similar position in a Florida law firm.
* Florida family-law and/or civil-litigation experience strongly preferred.
* Experience with the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal and electronic service.
* Strong knowledge of calendaring and deadline management.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong proofreading skills and attention to detail.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, email, and electronic case-management systems.
* Ability to communicate professionally with clients, attorneys, court personnel, and judicial assistants.
* Ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, anticipates what needs to be done, and follows tasks through to completion.
Compensation & Benefits
* $55,000–$68,000 annual salary, depending on experience
* Health insurance
* Paid time off
* Paid holidays
* Employer-paid parking
* Monday through Friday schedule
Exceptional candidates with significant Florida family-law or litigation experience may be considered above the posted salary range.
